Blossoms, Bursting and Fading

Spring is teasing us.  We have had some beautiful weather and some flowers have already come and gone; now we are having wintery weather again.  Here are a few photos from the yard this week.

It is the he end for some...

The last two blossoms on the camellia bush and the fate of the earlier ones.

(you can see the bush in the last post, just one
week earlier).

...and just the beginning for others:
Some new blooms and leaf buds on the hydrangea.

we enjoy Spring a little earlier than most

Today, looking out our front door, the tulip tree is in full bloom.  It usually only lasts a few days, this year we've been lucky so far that the wind hasn't blown all the blossoms away

Also, out front, the geraniums are beginning to blossom.

catching up

I've taken a few photos lately with the intention of posting them....guess it's time;

A recent sunset from our front yard

and another as we drove west.

A Baby Boy Is On The Way

We are (finally) going to be grandparents!!!!  A baby boy will join our family in June (if not sooner); we are overjoyed!!

Congratulations to Charlie & Sarah!

My first project for the new baby is a tactile quilt. It is approximately 24"x24" made from fabrics I had on hand (some of them have a history).  After finishing I decided that the pocket in the middle needed a purpose.  I attached a strip of fabric with a snap at the end, then made the "critter" to attach.  The critter can be removed and the fabric strip can be attached to a pacifier or another toy.

We are planning to take this to our "kids" today; sure hope they like it!!  :)

Nativity (and a few extras)

I have a collection of Nativity scenes. Some are old, some are new, some are very traditional, some are whimsical, one I painted on wood, one is from Ghana, one from The Grotto in Portland, Oregon, one from Israel, one was a "white elephant", All bring back good memories.

Here are a few of them.

And a few more bits of our Christmas decor.
