the Printer wins

I posted earlier that our printer is having issues, it is now to the point that it won't work at all.  I got a few more days work out of it, but now it constantly insists that there is a paper jam, which is an out and out lie. This message comes up even when there isn't any paper in it...or anywhere close.  I suspect a sensor has gone berserk.

After checking at one more store and being told they would have to send it out for repairs, which would be very costly, I contacted the manufacturer. I spent about a half an hour "chatting" online with a technician before being told it was a hardware issue and since the printer is out of warranty the only option was to buy a new one (sigh).  They did offer me a 30% discount at their online store.  So, I looked around and found that for just over $150 we can get an new and improved version of the one we spent $300 on three years ago.

This just doesn't make sense to me.  Is the world becoming more environmentally conscious or not?  Now we have his big hunk of office machinery to get rid of and that is a whole new project in itself.

More Hawaii/Wedding

Here are some shots of the houses, the pool, the reception tent being set up, the setting for the ceremony and last but not least the bride & groom.  The next-and final one of Hawaii-post will feature people - close enough to actually see their faces!!  enjoy

Happy Birthday to the USA!!

Christmas in July?

I was looking through some photos to update my blog layout and came across some good ones from last Christmas.  And since I wasn't doing much posting around that time I decided I would add them today.

This was our first Christmas with six stockings hung by the fireplace.  Charlie and Sarah had gotten engaged on December 19th.

An Old Favorite

"Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Or do without."

This quote from the depression/WWII era runs through my head from time to time.  Too bad it has become so outdated.

I checked at a office supply store yesterday to see if they do any cleaning or repairs on printers (we have an all-in-one printer that is having some issues).  The manager said "No, we don't.  People usually just replace them."   Whoa, even in this (supposed) time of "recycle, reuse, reduce"?

I haven't given up, I'm determined to "make it do" a bit longer and am confident that I will be able to get the printer back up to speed.

One quote....and one photo

"Self-righteousness is being more aware of and irritated by the sins of others than you are conscious of and grieved by your own."
