bedroom update

Here is the new color for the downstairs bedroom.
It is actually a bit greener than the photos shows..not really blue at all.

unintentional art

A few days ago as I started upstairs I saw this image on the wall and decided I needed to capture it.

It is the shadow of just one of the nine arms of a chandelier in our dining room and the blinds on the window behind it.

Another thing I just "had to" photograph was the fish bowl of wine corks on our kitchen counter.

It's fun to find art in unexpected places.
(And, yes, drinking wine is an art!)

one project down....

The bathroom is painted!!

Now on to the pink wall in the master bedroom. It will probably be painted the same green as the bathroom walls.

Then carpet & we can move back downstaris!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANCY!

October, 1966 - Father-Daughter Banquet

Nancy, I hope you are celebrating your birthday in a most festive way. If you didn't live 670 miles away you would be getting a really nice cat for your birthday! I just can't think of a good way to ship it. Love to you and to all the family as they gather to celebrate YOU (and Easter).

Projects

Today I'm painting (not very artistically) the bathroom cupboards. I am hoping that one more coat will do. When I am done they will be white, semi-glossy.
.
When this one is done I will (or at least hope to) start on the upstairs bathroom. More of the same...literally more (longer) cupboards; those will go black. I'll try to remember to take before & after pictures. Someday I may even attempt the kitchen ... a huge project; but very needed.

We have also been looking for carpet for the living room & downstairs bedroom. Ug!

In other news, it seems that everyone who likes cats already have more cats than they want. No home for Harriet, as yet. She is so adorable, cross-eyed & talkative, she would make someone a wonderful companion. In this photo she is asking me why there is on milk in the bowl.

Harriet (2) & Spring

I had to take a photo through the window in order to get one of the cat sitting still. She heard me and sat up to stare at the front door.

We have more signs of spring:

Geraniums ready to burst into bloom
& new fronds on the fern;

Freesia, which continued to bloom all winter;

And lilacs on both sides of the backyard.

Harriet

Not much new around here.

Mike is in Las Vegas for 3 days for a trade show.

I should be getting a lot done...but somehow I'm not. There are about a dozen projects I should get started on & a few that I should finish. I should probably also be looking for a job; but I don't know where to start. Last spring I looked & looked & looked with no success so starting again is difficult.

We have an abandoned cat that hangs around & I have been feeding it because it cries so much. Unfortunately it has very long hair & I am allergic to cats. She (I am assuming that it's a girl) is very affectionate but I shouldn't even pet her; that's hard. She had beautiful blue eyes, which are crossed, it is funny & very difficult to know where she is looking. We are lucky that she is content to stay outside, but I really should call animal control & hope that someone else will fall in love with her & give here a real home. I call her Harriet; Mike thinks it should be Hairy-It.

Trying to get a photo of the cat has been a challenge as whenever she sees me (or anyone for that matter) all she wants to do is butt up against my legs. If I get any distance she is moving toward me. But I tried & here are best of the attempts (out of about 20 shots):
